Warranty Policy

How manufacturer material warranties and our workmanship warranty work on commercial roofing systems installed by ATX Commercial Roofing Pros.

Last updated · June 2026

A commercial roof is protected by two separate warranties, and confusing them is the most common source of disputes in the industry. This page explains both in plain terms so you know exactly what stands behind a roof installed by ATX Commercial Roofing Pros, a commercial roofing contractor in Austin. The specific terms, durations, and exclusions for your project are set out in your written proposal and the manufacturer's warranty certificate — this page is a general guide, not the contract.

The two warranties on every roof

Material warrantyIssued by the manufacturer (GAF, Firestone, or Carlisle) and covers defects in the membrane or roofing product itself. Length and terms are set by the manufacturer and the system installed.
Workmanship warrantyIssued by ATX Commercial Roofing Pros and covers the quality of our installation — how the system was applied, seamed, flashed, and detailed. This is separate from the material warranty.

A material can be flawless while a bad installation still leaks, and a perfect installation can't save a defective product — which is exactly why the two are kept separate. As a certified installer for GAF, Firestone, and Carlisle, we can offer manufacturer system warranties that require certified installation, in addition to our own workmanship coverage.

What the workmanship warranty covers

Our workmanship warranty covers leaks and failures caused by our installation — seams, fasteners, flashing, terminations, and penetration details we performed — for the period stated in your proposal. If a covered issue appears, we return and correct it.

What it does not cover

  • Damage from storms, hail, high wind, fire, or other events outside our work (often insurable — we can help document it).
  • Damage from foot traffic, rooftop contractors, or equipment installed after we finish.
  • Ponding, leaks, or failures caused by structural movement, deck failure, or drainage problems that pre-existed or fall outside our scope.
  • Roofs altered, repaired, or penetrated by others after our completion.
  • Normal wear, or lack of the routine maintenance the manufacturer requires to keep the material warranty valid.

Keeping your warranty valid

Most manufacturer warranties require periodic inspection and maintenance. Skipping it is the most common way building owners unknowingly void coverage. Our maintenance programs are built to satisfy those requirements and document the condition of your roof over time. If another contractor works on the roof during the warranty period, tell us first — unauthorized alterations can void both warranties.

Making a claim

If you believe you have a covered issue, call (512) 529-2072. We'll inspect, identify whether the cause falls under the workmanship warranty, the material warranty, or an outside event, and tell you honestly which applies and what happens next.

Important This page summarizes how the warranties work in general. Your actual coverage — durations, transferability, and exclusions — is governed by your signed proposal and the manufacturer's warranty document for your specific system.
